The actual lift machinery. I’ve never personally seen them in action before.
It is what you never get to see on-top of any lift; they’re constantly revolving/moving in either direction. They are the machines lifting the cabin (that you’re standing in) either up or down at speed (in this case +-26 floors).
I was surprised to see really old heavy mechanical machinery – functional uncomplicated durable few moving parts really old machinery. Trustworthy.
No sound/noise in combination with heavy load is a good thing. They’re working things with low friction and regular maintenance.
They (lifts) made the skyscrapers possible – do you/can you walk 25, 50 or 100 floors or more?
