SW Induced HW Fail

Picturing the screen of my used to be trustworthy: MacBook (Black) – MA472LL/A – MacBook1,1 – A1181 – 2092.

It is a magnificent machine and its primary function has always been to play my digital music library, which is still does till this day.

However, it was quite a while since the operating system os X 10.6.8 could be updated – all though it has done many times in the past (legally => paid for with actual: €, £, ¥ or $).

Now? It impossible to update even the browsers and the was Firefox decided that the then (last) working version of (that which is in all eventually a virus) flash player would be blocked automatically.

– What does this entail?

– Well, there’s not really possibility to install a functioning browser, ever.

– Why is this a problem?

– Well, quite surprisingly it was the computer in my network that excelled in showing streamed content and that had just become its secondary task.

– It posses a problem. Because the second in line does not comply. Graphics should be on par, helas the interface is not.

– What do you mean?

– In short a software update has disabled the Displayport => HDMI interface.

– Right…

A short recap: SW Induced HW Fail, in all essence it is a complete software induced hardware fail. Obviously the hardware is not failing it is the software that is commanding it to so.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
